Walk YOUR Way for Autism - Stepping in the Right Direction for Autism

Jazzing With Jazlyn

Hello family, friends and even strangers.

This is our first year creating this team offically and we just wanted to take the time to thank you in advance for taking the time to read. I am not planning on going through a long explaination of our little ones diagnosis story but more of an appreciation for the more and more resources / support systems that are avaliable.

But realizing the need to make sure these don't just stop once this child turns 18. A reminder that autistic children turn into autistic adults who deserve these supports as well.

Children are the future, let's make it a good one ❤️

Why I'm Walking

It takes so many people to help aid in raising a child of special needs. These people make the job easier!

The teachers and EAs that actually get it, wanting to see your child succeed just as much as you do. Therapies that wish to aid your child in learning whatever will help the exist in this overwhelming world around them, not focusing on "getting rid of their autism" but by giving the correct tools for each individual person to use. Friends of the family who want to get to know how to help the family.

Centres just like these where people can go and have a space they actually feel welcomed. One place where there will not be judgement. We sadly can't fully change how everyong will respond to or respect the challenge that can come along with raising a child with autism, but we can try to create more spaces where families can go and not worry about if them or their child is going to be accepted or understood.

All these supports come together to make the voices louder of the families. The best support is a parent, guardian, immediate family or involved friends who fight for their child's right to exist in this world just as they are. With the individuals desires and needs being the focus.

Jazlyn has been very lucky to have strong support systems between two sides of immediate family who both work together to give her the accomadations she needs to grow. To the professionals we have met along the journey so far, who helped her find ways to regulate and communicate in a more safe way. Where she is now stringing two words together to communicate with us, a year ago there was no real verbal communication at all. She has put so much work in herself along with everyone who has not and will not give up on her.
